When Errin and I first started working together, he was the first person I knew who brought the revenue commit to the table – and I’ve worked for a number of carriers in my previous life. The plan works brilliantly as our clients all enjoy at least a 6-12 month window well ahead of the end of their contracts.

Remember, the growth rate for telecom expenses averages 6% that compounds annually. So as the months pass, there is an accelerated rate of achievement that usually brings fulfillment of obligation in around month 18-24.

Despite what some of our colleagues out there will tell you, you are in a much stronger position to negotiate when your hands aren’t tied with penalties and short windows in which to make a change.

For the sake of our readers outside the state of Pennsylvania and the U.S., my partner is referring to my alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh, who has an excellent football team, but does not have the same stadium attendance that they have at his school, Penn State, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh. To be fair, they do get the crowd sizes as referenced in the Farzad's interview, but then again, we in Pittsburgh have a much greater selection of entertainment options. For the record, I've had my iPhone for about 4 months now, traveled east to NJ and west to WI and have had few access problems. Previously, I was with Verizon for about 5 years. My partner has remained on Verizon and recently got a Droid, so the battle of the smartphones has been engaged.

A few points:
1) I get a kick out of Bob listening to these podcasts. Believe or not, he has a girlfriend in spite of this.
2) These free, informative tidbits are great ways to maximize your time and hone your skills. Even if it is just sitting at your desk listening in your spare time, you can gain skills that make you more valuable. I’m downloading these as I type.
3) http://www.audible.com is a great place to download audio books for a small fee.
4) You can tell Bob went to Pitt, which often times has trouble getting a crowd for their football games. “Events such as college football games with audiences of 20-50,000″. He doesn’t mean 20,000. He means 20.
